When it comes to buying a new home, sometimes simplicity is the key when deciding on what you want. For some, a large home or landscape is not what they are looking for. Regardless of your reason why you want to downsize, there are some things to consider before you go down this path.
While you prepare for a downsize, look at both the pros and cons to making such a move. What are you looking to add or take out of your life? As you ask these questions you will have a better understanding of what you are looking for and what living situation will fit your lifestyle better.
It is also good to chat with and listen to those who have downsized before. What was their experience like? Would they do it again? What were some of the pros and cons they faced while with the downsize? Through your conversations you will gain better insight of some of the challenges you may face and some strategies for avoiding extra stress.
Another question I would ask, what is your relationship with stuff like? If you have a lot of clutter in your home, a downsize is not going to help or simplify your life. If you are overwhelmed with things in your home, you will want to detach yourself from the unwanted items in your home. Garage sales and donation drop offs are great ways to give your unused items a new home.
What are some other questions you would add to the list? Have you downsized before? What are some of the things you wished you had known before making the move?
