Even with crazy weather, spring is--technically--around the corner. This month, get a head start on clearing out the clutter out of your home. Decluttering your home is good for Feng Shui and is a great way to get the old stuff you no longer want in your home.
Take time to go through your closets and throw out the clothes, purses, shoes, and whatever else you have in there that you no longer love or want. Not sure what to give away? Follow the 80/20 rule, you only wear about 20 percent of your clothes, so what part of the 80 can you give away? Even if you give 5 percent of the 80, that is still a lot of stuff out of your closet and, if you donate, to someone who could benefit from what you've given away.
Another great way to declutter your home and stay on track, write a cleaning to do list. Go room by room and write down everything that needs to be done. Have your family sign-up for the things they want or will do (this is what my family does), but if no one wants to sign up, then assign everyone tasks from the list. This is a great way to involve the family and get your home clean.
Throwing out or donating items can be sentimental. If you are unable to make the final decision or give something sentimental, though hated, involve a trusted friend to help.
